In large-sized prostates with a high PSA level and patients whom laser or transurethral resection surgery has been contraindicated, cryosurgical treatment of the adenoma remarkably improves the prostate’s volume, as well as the clinical manifestation of the same.

Consequently, it produces a very significant improvement in urination frequency and intensity.

If there are cardio-respiratory contraindications or blood coagulation pathologies, the prostate can be treated with cryosurgery by applying the cryoprobes only upon the side lobes.

This way, the size of the gland is drastically reduced and the urinary flow is normalised, increasing the patient’s quality of life.
