COLON CANCER, PREVENTION BEGINS ON DIET

CÁNCER DE COLON, LA PREVENCIÓN EMPIEZA EN LA DIETA

In Spain is the second most diagnosed cancer in women after the breast and the third in men after the prostate and lung. It is also the tumor that causes more deaths, only behind the lung. It's colon cancer. Today is the World Day of this disease. Its high lethality has to do with that for a long time can go unnoticed.

"Most of them begin with a benign lesion (polyps) that grows for ten years until it becomes cancer," explains Dr. Miguel Muñoz-Navas, president of the Spanish Foundation of Digestive System (Fead).

That is why specialists stress the importance of prevention and early detection through screening campaigns. "They should be generalized, in people without symptoms or personal or family history, from the age of 50," recommends Dr. Muñoz-Navas.
