DESCUBREN QUE EL CARDO BORRIQUERO FRENA LA METÁSTASIS CEREBRAL DEL CÁNCER DE PULMÓN

The benefits of the antioxidant properties found in thistle (silybum marianum) are well known. This plant up to three meters high and Mediterranean climate - which is also called borriquero thistle or burrero - can be used as a laxative, antihemorrhagic, reduces excess iron, reduces cholesterol, is beneficial against diabetes, is used for vipers and insect bites and also helps with menstrual problems.

And this simple thistle, as its Latin name indicates, contains silibinin, a natural substance that is able to reduce brain metastases from lung cancer resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. To this conclusion has come a study of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) of Gerona, published in the magazine Oncotarget. The antitumor role of silibinin had been seen in cell models and mice, but it is the first time in the world that the effectiveness of the product in humans with cancer has been reported.
